​All my life I have suffer from acne and I have tried many attempts to clear up my skin only to end in disappointment. I have come to a place where I just accepted the fact that my skin was how it was and nothing more can be done. Through the years with good cleansing and skincare I have managed it somewhat but it wasn’t until I tried Your Tea’s 14 day Liver Cleanse that I was awaken with a new found respect for wellness. People often tell me that it was perhaps my diet but I would ignore that notion because I thought it was just genetics. However, after this program I realized I was completely wrong and a fool to not listen to my body and what my skin was telling me. I honestly don't know where this Liver Cleanse has been all my life, but these 22 days has given me results that really no surface products or pills can do. If you want glowing skin, clearer skin, less headaches, possible weight loss and overall happiness- then Your Tea is the right option for you.

For this program, Your Tea has partnered up with Dr. Nat Kringoudis, a Doctor of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture (TCM)to create a detoxification plan using ancient Chinese philosophy about the liver.  Your liver, from a Chinese medicine standpoint regulates nutrients and blood flow  or Qi and when that is blocked it disrupts the Qi and our overall liver health.  In Western medicine, the liver is the body’s very own detox station, much like a giant sponge that clarifies and protects us from outside toxins.  Every now and then, the liver deserves a good “cleaning” or cleanse so that it can enjoy a little TLC and regroup and work its function in communicating with the rest of our organs.  When our liver is healthy and happy- we are in turn healthy and happy.

My Experience through the 3 phases of the Cleanse:

Phase 1 Elimination - Even though I tried to mentally prepare a couple of days beforehand, the first day was brutal. I pretty much failed and succumbed to cravings and was unable to follow the tea schedule correctly. However, after 3-4 days (as the book said) I was able to adapt to the program more diligently and noticed immediate changes to my skin health ie. more radiant, less red and hydrated.  I felt cleaner inside due to excessive bowel movement for the first few days which was uncomfortable but slowly got better.  I also did have a slight mood swing and experience irritation and fatigue which is all absolutely normal during this period​.   Coincidentally , I got my period during this time and I noticed less bloating from the usual but I still got cramps however.

Phase 2: Regulation-In this phase I was super happy because I was able to incorporate some fish and eggs into my diet. My skin continues to glow while I started to notice a small slimming in my waist.

Phase 3: Restoration: The last phase is where we only drink 1 tea- the probiotic.  This tea is supposed to introduce the necessary digestive flora back to replenish the gut.   I felt no different from the previous phase and my skin still glowing and waist slimming.

Recommendation:
During these 22 days you should try to limit going out because it was hard finding options that will support this diet. I made the mistake of not reading the book more thoroughly before I started so please do that and go to the grocery store for the required ingredients. Surprisingly, the ingredients are easy to find and is even available at your local Safeway! If you find yourself caving to certain unwanted food or not adjusting to the tea schedule it is totally OK and normal. You will still reap the benefits even if you stick to 70% of the program but do try to test your will power and do more. I urge you to not leave the tea bag in for too long (over 5 mins) because it will be too strong and you might experience nausea. Speaking of the tea! Do not take the probiotic on an empty stomach or during the day as it will get you super sleepy. Only take this tea 1 hour before bed time for optimal results.

Overall, I was really surprised by the results and I didn't believe that I could even be partially vegan. This cleanse not only gotten me complimented for my skin for the very first time and made me drink more water but it has also made me reevaluate myself. I thought I lived pretty healthy before but after this detox, I realized I need to live even cleaner . I urge you if you have skin programs, fatigue or want to feel just better while losing a bit of weight, then you need to try this cleanse and listen to what your body and mind is saying.

My favourite part of the whole cleanse is certainly the recipes that are delicious and super easy to make! I made some substitutions to my favourite buck wheat pancakes by   smashing ripe bananas or blueberries and mix it into the batter, along with Chia seeds which are super great for you.  Also you can even add coca powder and coconut cream to make the batter more delicious and interesting to eat.  If you  can't find rice milk, you can try subbing in  almond milk or soy milk which are easier to find.

Hey! I'm about to do this cleanse and im quite nervous. What tips do you recommend pre-cleanse?

Hi Erin,

Thank you for your comment! I tried this a couple of years ago and it was pretty hard at first I have to admit just because it was such a big lifestyle change! I recommend that you might want to try out the diet plans a couple of weeks before to ease you in before you start the actual tea cleanse. I found that I jumped right into it and the new foods/ or food restrictions was quite overwhelming.
