I have been dreaming about Adelina's nursery for the longest time and now I can finally share with you the finished result which is super exciting. For me as a new mom, a nursery isn't just for feeding, diaper changes and naps but really a special place for me and my baby girl to bond. So I am happy that we were able to create a space that can change, adapt and grow with her as she leaves her baby phase into toddler-hood and beyond.
Before I got pregnant, I always knew that this room was going to be our nursery because the space was just right for a baby. At one point this was our bedroom and we decided to renovate our home and build another room instead of moving to another house. During renovations we stayed at my brothers empty apartment close to downtown because of the dust and noise for a month and enjoyed some alone time before the baby came. Since I had a lot of time to think at my brothers place while my husband was at work, I started to really put together my vision for her nursery then. So to create the perfect space for my little princess I started first with a color scheme and chose a palette of soft pink and grey with touches of gold that worked beautifully together. The grey was able to balance out the ultra feminine pink which can get a little tacky if overdone while, the pink gives a touch of pretty to the otherwise masculine and dark grey. On the other hand, touches of subtle gold also helps to add some dimension and brings out the grey and pink nicely. You can also see themes of floral, nature, animals and stars and the moon flowing delicately throughout the room with each one representing something special in my heart.
Once I got my color scheme down, I began to think about the big pieces like the crib, dresser and glider. I am obsessed with anything that can convert or adapt and that also goes for cribs. I went with this brand called Million Dollar Baby (super cute name) which I really like when I saw it in stores because it was very feminine, sturdy and has some storage underneath. It also converts nicely into a toddler bed later on which is very in style nowadays and incredibly practical. I suggest you buy the conversion set with the once your buy the crib so that it matches or else it might be discontinue later on and you won’t be able to find the right kits anymore. I also got the matching 6-drawer dresser where its long enough where I can put a change pad on top and diaper caddy which is very convenient. With my main pieces in place, I realized that the walls were way too empty and so these wonderful wall peony wall decals were a must and became the main focus of the room and also photographs beautifully. I really like them because supposedly they don’t ruin your walls and I can change the patterns easily later on if I desire which is a bonus. I also love these wall art prints by Minted which is a great custom art store online that I have used a few times and absolutely love their stylist service where you can just text them a picture of your room and they can style it for you. You can easily choose your pictures there along with frames and everything is delivered quickly to you which is super amazing.
From the cute pink diaper pail (amazing btw) to plush toys that lined her crib (which of course she wont be sleeping with just for photo purposes:)) every detail was thought out with care and love. Even though she doesn't sleep in her nursery just yet (very soon) she enjoys coming in everyday and seeing the wall decals, the toys and playing on her mattress (very comfortable) while gazing at her star and moon mobile. Now that my nursery is done, I can finally enjoy my time with baby in her room that mommy and daddy created just for her.
