Described as a "square cloth worn around the neck", the neckerchief is now the quintessential accessory of the moment. Long been an easy and practical item to wear, the neckerchief is an ideal add-on for a layered look during transitional weather patterns (1). A great way to spice up a gloomy outfit or day, I urge you to try this look out for an elegant and effortless way to spice up your wardrobe (2).
As seen on many bloggers outside NYFW, I really gravitated towards this trend because it is so overlooked. Only noted by the true fashion crowd, working a neck scarf into your outfit instantly screams cool and confident. I use to think that a printed scarf was too mature for my taste but now with further research, I find it to be enormously versatile. You can wear it with a simple off-the-shoulder top and jeans or pair it with a soft suede khaki trench coat and distress denim like I did - the neckerchief knows no boundaries. There are also endless ways to tie the neckerchief, my favourite being a single knot and then shifting it to one side for an instant fashionista update.
With my suede trench coat and neck scarf being the focal, I kept the rest of my accessories black including my bag, hat and shoes. Since I haven't worn these fringe booties in awhile I thought this was the perfect outfit to bring them out again.
Thanks so much for reading and I hope you can try out a neckerchief for the upcoming spring season. Until next time stay glam and chic!
