Dressing for work can get boring because most people tend to stick with the same basics. While there is nothing wrong with that, sometimes it's worth it to experiment with trends (1). And this season, we will see the triumphant return of one of my all-time favourite denim style- the culotte (2). If you are in a working environment where you can exercise a more casual approach or have a designated "jean" day, then this is the outfit for you. I want to show you that denim isn't a non-professional or casual item at all. In fact, denim can be quite the office appropriate attire if you pair it with the right tailored pieces, proportion and attitude.
Wearing culottes can be tricky because it might seem too baggy and you can lose your shape within all that volume. We can easily fix that problem with structure by adding this slightly tailored blazer with a relaxed and sophisticated feel. On the inside, I also added a simple white camisole with some mesh detail to best demonstrate how proportions is the key. However, if you want more edge to your outfit, you can try pairing the look with these frayed denim which gives off a touch of rebel.
Since wearing any cropped style pants can shorten you (especially if you are petite girl like me), I would suggest wearing shoes that show more skin or would match your skin colour- like these DVF heels. I like that they are luxurious with the suede but has a understated vintage feel which works nicely in an office environment. To keep with the relaxed theme, I opted for a leather bracelet instead of watch and cool sunnies to enjoy the sunshine and then drinks later.
A great look to easily transition you from day to night, try this look out for a different approach to your regular work staple.
