Fashion: The Fashionable Embroidered Bomber

One of the biggest trends of this year has unquestionably been the bomber jacket in embroidered satin.  Spearheaded by Alessandro Michele of Gucci with its sporty yet elegant feel -it’s no surprise that it has become such a hit.  With fall, I wanted to transition this intricate jacket into something cozier while retaining its resilience and history.

Unlike other trends, this jacket has a specific point of origin traced back to WWII when an  American soldier in Japan embroidered his bomber jacket as a war souvenir (1).  That explains the contrasting symbols from both the East and West which makes the jacket ubiquitously appealing.  History aside, the details are what draws fashionistas to purchase this jacket in every color and style they can find.  When browsing for one, I was especially drawn to this two-toned quilted military green bomber adorned with a tiger on the back.  I like this one for fall because it’s much thicker so you can get away even during colder weather with a turtleneck underneath or layered with a black fur gilet on top.  Another reason these jackets are a favourite of mine is because they are usually reversible (not this one however) so you can have a two-in-one look.  Pair this bomber with a suede button up skirt in black or brown and you are ready to casually slay for fall

A perfect look to head to brunch or dinner, the versatility of this bomber style is endless.  For the night, you can always pair the look with some thigh high boots and a leopard clutch to match the fierce and powerful vigor of the tiger.  For a more pared down feel to run errands or go to school, I suggest some platform creepers or trainers, a chic bucket bag and a cute abstract cell phone case like this one from Snupped, to make the outfit more approachable and appropriate for the day.
