For today's look, I infused a ladylike spirit into the 70's revival trend. Since it was all about peace and love and anti-society in the 70's, I thought it would be interesting to include a conservative element into the ensemble. I thought the two would create a unique juxtaposition perfect for a moody fall date.
When I think of the ladylike attire, I envisioned the women of the 1920's with their beautifully coordinated and accessorized (1) outfits each elegant and demure. In contrast to the free-spirit of the 70's, the women back then seemed much more tamed and traditional. However with further research, I find that in many ways they were the same both fighting oppression from decades before. Hence I chose this light grey pea coat to illustrate both feminine and retro qualities. Draped over a "pussy-bow" blouse looped gently around my neck and printed sweater vest, this pea coat instantly elevates the look into a "ladylike sensibility" with a retro vibe. I love the heather grey of the coat because it is refreshing and stylish. The coat is warm but not thick, making it perfect for layering over flare jeans or long skirts.
For accessories, I wanted a pop of color with this burgundy fedora and hints of gold detail with my ear jacket earrings and hobo leather bag. I wore these ear jackets in my previous post and now I am showing you another way you can wear them. It is so wonderful to have a piece that is so versatile and wearable, a true nod to my signature style (2). To complete the look, I finished with delicate lace kitten heels and an easy fishtail braid to achieve the ladylike spirit I was hoping for.
Thanks for reading and I hope that this will inspire you to infuse these "womanly" pieces into your Fall wardrobe. Don't forget to leave me comments, share my post and follow me on my new Facebook page and Instagram for more updates.
