Since fall is just around the corner, I thought this sweater would be a perfect pairing for my 70's revival attire. As the temperature cools, this sweater will definitely help bring you back into fashion's groovy past (1) with its blend of orange, red and brown. The colours give off the nostalgia of falling leaves crunching beneath our feet and the Autumn air sweeping through our hair. This sweater however does not only aim to bring back past memories, but also to fully convert and embrace us into the seasons changing spirit.
For today's look, I decided to wear the sweater underneath a brown leather jacket, over flare jeans and a matching brown belt to add an instant 70's cool. Since the sweater can be just slightly chunky, adding a darker denim will help focus the eyes better on the sweater and not the jeans.
Unknowingly, we stumbled into a industrial shipping container yard and decided to do a impromptu photo shoot there. I thought the cozy of the sweater and colorful shipping containers would make for an interesting concept. For me, shipping containers always had a vintage vibe to them with its association to ships and trains. Since this season is all about the throwback, I thought this would be the perfect location to demonstrate that trends are cyclical. Since a lot of these "boxes" are abandoned and are "bringing about a new set of social problems"(2), people have found new ways to interpret them into art or build them into homes. Like fashion, anything old can become new again.
To complete this decade style, I added a vintage Chanel chain tote and some gold delicate jewelry to bring an understated allure to this revival look. I especially adore these anchor ear jackets because not only does it have just the right amount of sparkle but it can be worn in many ways.
Thanks again for reading and I hope that you have enjoyed my piece on the cozy 70's sweater. Please don't forget to follow me on Instagram, Chictopia, Twitter and Lookbook for additional pictures. Until next time stay chic and glam- xoxo Spirit!
