Last week I incorporated a Beauty segment on my site and today I wanted to share with you yet another exciting feature. Olivia Palermo has long been my fashion idol ever since she appeared on The City. Her style is very uptown New York but her technique of mixing high street with runway and accessories really speaks to me. As I am also all about accessories, I was super thrilled to find out that she has collaborated with Baublebar, a jewelry site which I am also a huge fan of. As a guest bartender, Olivia’s collection consists of 25 pieces which features jewelry with a high-end antique feel but with affordable and accessible prices. Throughout the months I will be wearing a lot of pieces from her collection and other Baublebar items I purchased. I will be showing my take on how to wear them and hopefully try to capture the spirit of the New York 'it' girl.
I remember the last time I visited New York, I was super in love with Central Park and I thought our very own Stanley Park would be the perfect location to recreate Olivia’s signature look. New Yorkers are very well put together and they are all about statement shoes, “it” bags and well manicured nails. To capture that preppy city chic, I wore my favourite double-breasted navy coat, a printed sweater vest and a structured pleated mini burgundy skirt. This skirt is really going to be my go-to skirt because it is just the perfect neutral colour for fall and winter.
To accomplish Olivia’s infamous style, it is all about how to accessorize! Since the weather is cold and I am wearing a mini skirt, the best way to stay warm and chic is to incorporate a faux fur stole. I like to throw them like a collar over the coats lapel to make it seem like it’s naturally part of the jacket. Or if you want a luxe feel, you can just carry it on one shoulder like how Olivia usually does. Seeing that I am very much layered, I wanted to add delicate but bold pieces from her collaboration like these ornate mirrored earrings and peacemaker ring. I like that her collection is a combination of natural and modern elements so that it can be styled according to your mood, environment and occasion. To continue with the delicate gold theme, I also added this fringe hand chain for a stroke of fun and flirty. To finish off this preppy modern city look, I added a quilted designer tote and brown buckled ankle booties so you can feel right at home no matter where you are in the city.
Thanks so much for reading and I hope you will incorporate some of Olivia's stunning statements for your special occasions, weekend brunch or visiting the Big Apple. Until Next time stay chic and glam
- xoxo Spirit
