Suede continues to be a big trend this fall and something about it always really screams retro sophistication to me. Especially in a trench form, the coat reminded me of a picture of Ali McGraw in the Getaway It was really through the revival of throwback fashion that introduced this great actress and fashion icon to me. Her impeccable taste really defines her as one of the decade’s greatest trendsetting cinema stars, along with Audrey Hepburn, Francoise Hardy and Faye Dunaway (1). In attempt to capture her style with a contemporary twist, I wanted to use my Olivia Palermo x Baublebar pieces to add some eccentricity to McGraw’s otherwise natural and minimalist style (2). With its alluring impracticality but undeniable sensual appeal, suede is like leather’s sister counterpart (3). In wanting to add some contrast to this tan and brown palette and to remain consistent with the fabric, I wore my black suede a-line mini skirt. Since it is finally turtleneck season, I couldn’t wait to pull out my stored-away pieces to keep warm and be fashionable at the same time. What is great about the turtleneck is that they are essential for a great winter wardrobe. It can be layered and tucked under a skirt or pants to elongate your stature. As well it can show off your accessories with immense ease and sophistication In wanting to keep with McGraw’s simplistic but glamourous fashion sense, I only included one statement. However, even though this collar necklace is daring it is also graceful and unique, which allows the outfit to embody both the present and the past. I wanted to include the Peacemaker ring which also is nature inspired like the Anderson Collar. It is one of my favourites in the collection because it truly goes with anything and adds just the perfect touch to harmonize the ensemble. Finally, I incorporated retro-like accents such as my new dark brown riding ankle booties and pebbled studded cognac sling bag to keep the look very inviting and warm. Perfect for afternoon tea or to a date at the cinema to watch old movies, whatever the reason it will surely help you feel like a shining Hollywood starlet. Thanks for reading and until next time stay glam and chic- xoxo Spirit!
