While some of you have heard of the term "boyfriend blazer" many times in fashion, don't let the name fool you! While it takes its' inspiration from his closet, it is designed solely for the ladies (1). Despite its name, it is a piece that embodies a strong female statement and offers a relaxed, polished and comfortable approach to smart dressing. Just like your first crush, you may admire the blazer from afar and think can I pull this look off? However, only through trial-and-error will you know if this trend is your true destiny or not.
There are a many ways to wear the boyfriend blazer and I have already done so in a previous post. For today's look, I wanted a casual and cool look that is perfect for admiring the leaves that have already turned a beautiful red. On this crisp and cold Autumn day, I wore a black coated denim to repel the rain and a feminine blouse to off-set the masculinity of the blazer. Since the key to styling a menswear inspired look is to add tailoring, I tucked in the blouse to keep the look clean and structured.
Due to the weather, I wanted to wear accessories that are waterproof and blends well with my checked blazer. That is why, I chose this taupe wool panama hat to shield from the rain, brown ankle strap ankle booties and a black bucket bag with water-repellent leather material. To make this look a truly fashionable borrowed look, I added a braided embellished necklace to update the look from reserved to fun.
Thanks for reading and I hope you will be inspired to try out this look this season. Until next time stay chic and glam! Xoxo Spirit
