One of my resolutions for 2017 is to take more fashion risks, and that includes going out of my comfort zone. Since the weather was finally warming up just a little, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to wear my new tiered- sleeve sweater along with these chic new frames I got from Clearly - and explore an urban look with a girly flair that I wanted to create for a long time. Can you say construction chic?
Since I wanted a new look for the new year, I thought I chic pair of eyeglasses would fit the bill. And I was super excited to partner up with Clearly to create this look. Originally an online site for contact lenses, this Canadian retail giant quickly evolved to offer their customers a wide selection of exclusive and curated designer eyeglasses and sunglasses. One such brand is Joseph Marc, a trendsetting brand that appeals to contemporary tastes with a polished, vintage and minimalist feel. I chose these 4099 aviators by Joseph Marc because aviator style eyeglasses are making a huge comeback and it fits perfectly with the urban street look that I am going for. I recommend that if you have a rounder face or wider face shape like mine, a pair of oversized aviators will better frame and compliment you. Clearly also has a great tool called MyFit, which narrows down frames that best fit you based on measurements from an existing pair of eyeglasses. It is an easy tool that will help you find your perfect frame quickly and effortlessly. Since we are millennials, wanting to purchase online is inevitable and eyeglasses are no exception; however, I recommend that if you are using your glasses for purposes other than fashion, you still should go to an eye care professional for regular eye health checkup and a prescription so you can be fashionable and see clearly and safely at the same time.
Another point of this look is of course this ruffled sleeved cardigan in stunning mustard tan yellow! I instantly fell in love not only because of the awesome layered sleeve details that I am obsessed with right now; but also because the material is very soft (almost like cashmere) and cozy which is great for the winter here. Since tiered sleeves are hard to wear with jackets, I suggest draping your coat over your shoulder and that way you can rock the sweater and be warm. If it wasn’t for the addition of the distressed denim overalls and Timberland boots, this otherwise girly look would lack the street cred that would qualify it as urban fashion. Perfect for giving your errand- running outfit a big boost, this look would be great for a casual latte run, a day of brunching and playing in the snow. On a side note, I think if I ever work at a construction site - this would be my preferred outfit of choice LOL.
