Weather for June hasn't been the greatest here in Vancouver-its been cold and wet and I even had to wear a turtleneck sweater for a dinner last week which is absurd. However, I'm sure once July rolls around there would be ample sun and of course some major heat waves. In the meantime, I can reminisce back to the time I took these pictures at my favourite winery Quails Gate (and home to the best restaurant in the world- no joke!) in Kelowna wearing this cute and summer appropriate check dress.
First of all I want to talk about this view- isn't it just spectacular? With slopping vines leading up to the Okanagan lake, I can't imagine a better place to display this wonderful summer dress than here. Perfectly meshing with the grapevines, I love the mulitcolour check patterns and the layered detail of this dress. It is fun, unique and moves beautifully as you turn and walk which is great for photos. But most importantly, I like that this outfit is no fuss and doesn't require a lot of thinking- you just put it on and go and that's how I like it during my travels.
Since its not too hot that day I was able to get away wearing a leather jacket to shield from the sun and wore these cool mirrored aviators as well. I incorporated a classic luxe shoulder bag and some silver flip flops from Old Navy, my go-to flip flop store. I really enjoy their flip flops as they are very very affordable and the quality is great. I buy a few pairs and throw them in my bag for traveling, the beach or to the spa for a pedicure.
An easy look that you will surely wear endlessly, this dress is the perfect answer to the summer heat.
