In the spirit of the season, I wanted to create an outfit that reflected the golden neutrals of changing leaves and the rustic brown of aging wood. Since it was finally sunny, we wanted to play tourist in our own city and went to explore a beautiful old historic shipyard. Considering it was still chilly, I thought wrapping myself in a cozy blanket scarf would be the most desired. But instead of just using the scarf as a shawl, I decided to wear it as outerwear which served to be both functional and fashionable on this charming Autumn day. Sometimes a neutral palette can be rather boring because it can seem like there is no dimension. However, if there are varying shades of the same colour and the inclusion of this uniquely patterned printed scarf, it instantly becomes a creative and effortless look. Blanket scarves were a big deal a couple of season ago, I remember myself eagerly searching the stores and online for the right one. I really love this one in particular because it isn't too long or have too much fabric. I find that with my petite height too much volume can be incredibly drowning. There are many ways to style this cozy accessory and my favorite is the belted (1). I treated it like a long cardigan or coat, folded it in half and wrapped a leather studded belt around to spice it up a little. Also to decrease bulk I went with a lightly sheered taupe coloured turtleneck and this fab A-line button tan skirt, which I wore in my Pre-fall transition series. Now, I will be bringing some of those pieces back to show you on how to restyle, reinvent and reuse them to create new and exciting outfits. For accessories, I kept with the taupe brown theme and used my new panama fedora I got from my previous post and a matching tote bag. I actually love taupe colours because I find that it works better on my skin tone. I also wore my darker taupe coloured knee-high boots to give more interest to the rest of the look. I didn't feel as if there was any room for extravagant jewelry, so instead I just added some comfortable and simple gold stud earrings to conclude this contemporary Autumn-has-arrived look. Thanks for reading!! I hope that you have enjoyed my blanket scarf look and will take some time to explore and play tourist in your own city. Don't forget to follow me on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for further updates and photos. Until next time, stay chic, warm and glam- xoxo Spirit.
