For me, I love attending birthday parties because it gives you a good excuse to dress up and put on your best party shoes. However, I often find that it is important to not "overdress" for such an occasion as you there to celebrate and not be the centre of attention. With that said, it doesn't mean that you shouldn't still look cute and polish while wishing your best friend a happy birthday.
I think this elegant evening look would be perfect for a fancier dinner because it is sophisticated and girly but understated . It becomes sophisticated instantly with the appearance of a tweed jacket. Inspired by Coco Chanel, tweed jackets are a excellent purchase because it elevates any look into a lady-like splendor. I think this is why the tweed continues to stay relevant and timeless till today. I also love this tunic dress adorn with a bow and stars. The problem with tunic's for me is that sometimes it can be just a tad short to be considered a dress. So to negate a potential embarrassing moments, I paired the dress with a black skirt underneath. This way I feel secure and gives the dress a special twist and dimension. Even though the whole outfit is mixed with different textures and patterns, It doesn't scream "look-at-me" but still allows you to stand out and feel confident.
For accessories, I kept it black to keep this #ootd modest and allowed only a subtle amount of sparkle. I adore small clutches of all sorts and this pretty one has been with me for a few years. I love how it is so simple but the gold clasp really makes it special. I also cherish these black pave pumps because like the clutch, it is subtle and almost inconspicuous. However, once it catches the light it will twinkle endlessly like the starry night. Finally, I wore my favorite pair of earrings by Kenneth Jay Lane to keep with the simplicity and sophistication of the outfit.
