Today is a magical day because I celebrate 2 years in blogging :) Looking back at my first blog post, I realized how far it has come and I am both proud and grateful. Like destiny, I was looking to create something special for my blog anniversary and Jana from Billie + Peaches, a photographer from Perth Australia was in town and contacted me for a photo shoot. I said yes of course and asked if she knew any good makeup artist and she introduced me to Ksenia who happens to work at the cutest beauty parlour in town, The Glamoury. All the stars aligned and we were able to create an amazing shoot featuring four outfits to celebrate another milestone year on Glamouraspirit.
Outfit 1: Little Black Dress
My day started early by getting ready at the Glamoury, a super cute retro-inspired beauty parlor in Yaletown. You can get both your hair and makeup done here and they provide you with the cutest silk robes. Ksenia did FOUR makeup looks and hair changes on me and I couldn’t be happier with the results! She was so sweet, patient and professional and changed my hair and makeup for every new outfit. She even gave me her belt at one point because I forgot mine (such a doll). After getting all glammed up we headed outside to Yaletown and did most of our shooting there. Jana even said Yaletown reminded her of New York and I felt like I was transported to the big apple for the shoot. We found the cutest wall and shot the first look featuring this black lace and tulle dress. I wore this LBD to my friend’s wedding recently and was actually a little bummed-out because I couldn’t get my hair done for the wedding. However, everything happens for a reason and I got my dream hair and makeup done for this shoot so I am happy and couldn’t complain.
Outfit 2: Kimono
For my next shoot I went for an Asian inspired look again. If you have read my blog post for Clearly, you will realize I am in love with these Kimono style pieces lately. I was a little skeptical with this trend at first but after this shoot I realized how totally wearable and easy to mix this trend was with other pieces. I wore this long silk kimono cardigan with pearl studded jeans, my favourite Cult Gaia clutch and satin bow flats and it was perfect against this vine backdrop.
Outfit 3: Pink Tuxedo
In this third look I went with something more sophisticated with a chic city vibe. I saw this pink cut-out shoulder Zara tuxedo blazer dress and knew I had to get it. I have been wearing it endlessly to my friend’s birthday with the pearl studded jeans, to the Clearly launch event of Main + Central and now for this shoot. This was my favourite look (even though they were all good) out of the four because the hair, makeup and instant tan that Ksenia just made me feel really sexy and empowered and I really enjoyed this moment. Of course Jana was amazing making me feel at ease the whole time and gave me great directions.
Outfit 4: Balloons
The final look was probably the most difficult one because we had to move locations and I couldn’t find the parkade I was looking for. We missed a turn however and stumbled onto something even better and I felt like it was meant to be. I realized after two years that this is the thrill and excitement with photoshoots and blogging – you never know what you are going to get! Another difficulty was working with balloons they fly everywhere and I couldn’t get a good moment where I wasn’t like chasing the balloons or them blowing in my face. It was also windy up there so my hair was a little messy and it was just chaotic. But it turned out well and I was happy with the results.
I am deeply humbled and extremely grateful for all the love I receive on my blog and Instagram. Every comment and like means a lot and I couldn't be more excited to be in a great community on Instagram. I want to sincerely THANK YOU for being on this journey with me and I hope you will see me grow into a better and more diverse blogger through the years.
