Over the Victoria Day Long weekend my whole family was invited by the River Rock Casino Resort for a 2-night staycation. It was our very first family trip since having Adelina and we couldn't have asked for a better experience than at the River Rock Casino Resort. What I love most about our stay was how family friendly everything was but also with plenty of things for adults which made for an unforgettable long weekend. Celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, the River Rock Casino Resort is situated in a picturesque setting with stunning views of Vancouver and the North Shore Mountains! The only Four-Diamond Casino Resort in Western Canada it really is the ultimate staycation destination with great restaurants, an award winning Absolute Spa on-site and a 70 foot water slide for kids and not to mention its conveniently located by the skytrain and the airport with FREE parking, I mean how amazing is that?
Day 1: Settling In, Buffet Dinner and Sunsets
I had an extremely busy week leading up to our staycation (and even after) and had little time to pack but honestly I wasn't worried because Richmond and the hotel has everything we need. However, it was my first time packing with baby and we almost brought everything with us but thank goodness for our spacious 2 bedroom suite where they also have a lovely crib waiting for Adelina to sleep and play in during the day. We arrived during the late afternoon (my husband who works downtown was able to meet us via skytrain there so it was very nice and convenient) on the Friday before the long weekend and had some time to settle in our room .
Then we headed off to the Buffet for an incredible buffet dinner at the Chairmen Room on the third floor and also got a chance to meet the other media members. We first got an introduction of the hotel by their lovely staff and they were so welcoming and sweet! I also got to meet some of the Vancouver Top mom nominees and their beautiful families. After being so stuffed we headed out to catch the sunset by the pier and it was just the perfect way to end the day.
Day 2: Breakfast in Bed, Spa, Pool & the Night Market
We started off the day with breakfast in bed (room service) and after fueling up the three of us headed out to Steveston Village one of my favourite spots in Richmond (a must visit for anyone) where there there is a great museum, national historic site, bike tours and of course wonderful restaurants along the pier always a must for seafood lovers! It was Adelina first time (many first here) visiting and she enjoyed seeing all the people and the dogs running around and she had just a lovely time!
We then headed back to the hotel where my mother-in-law and I got massages at the famous Absolute Spa while the boys (husband and father-in-law) took care of baby! It was actually my mother-in-law first time having a massage and she was so relaxed and happy after she told me she can't wait to do it again! After our relaxing time at the spa where we also got some of their lovely products, I wanted to experience their wonderful pool I have been hearing about. So we did a quick change and Adelina got to wear her first bathing suit which was so cute and I couldn’t have asked for a better pool experience than this one. The pool was enormous with a giant water slide and the water wasn’t too cold and not too deep so it was just great for kids and babies.
After the pool, we headed to the Night Market hosted by Tourism Richmond for a tasting. I was the most surprised about the Night Market because it has really changed and has gotten so big and fancy! You can literally come here to eat, play and shop in one destination- think Jurassic World (owner’s personal collection of giant dinosaurs figures on display) and an amusement park combined with the most IG-worthy and delicious food (rainbow toast, tofu pudding, pho fries yes yes) available! Certainly a fun-filled day we ended it by just chilling at our hotel room reminiscing about the day and drinking wine and I couldn't have asked for a better day with family.
Day 3: Final Day
It was so sad to leave the River Rock Resort Casino, a place we called home for a few days but it ended on a high note with a delicious brunch at the Curve Lounge (also has a great patio a real hidden gem that overlooks the water) I have to admit, I actually never knew the River Rock Resort Casino was such great destination for families! I highly recommend you revisit this amazing staycation spot called the River Rock Casino Resort located in beautiful Richmond B.C and you will probably never want to leave afterwards.
I like to THANK the River Rock Casino Resort, Vancouver Mom and Tourism Richmond for hosting us and for making Adelina's first staycation such a success!
