In the spirit of the season, I wanted to create an outfit that reflected the golden neutrals of changing leaves and the rustic brown of aging wood. Since it was finally sunny, we wanted to play tourist in our own city and went to explore a beautiful old historic shipyard. Considering it was still chilly, I thought wrapping myself in a cozy blanket scarf would be the most desired. But instead of just using the scarf as a shawl, I decided to wear it as outerwear which served to be both functional and fashionable on this charming Autumn day.
At any given time or day, Navy is one of my favourite go to colours. Whenever I wear this shade, I know that I would feel elegant, sophisticated, sexy and smart even with minimal planning. Less severe than black, navy is made suitable for every skin tone and can cater to any taste(1). Always in fashion, I never fear that navy will clash or not match with any of my pieces. Now, I argue would be the perfect time to bring out your favorite navy item for an anniversary dinner or even a little shopping after work. Whatever the occasion, navy will surely satisfy all your outfit needs hence becoming the new black this season.
For today's look, I infused a ladylike spirit into the 70's revival trend. Since it was all about peace and love and anti-society in the 70's, I thought it would be interesting to include a conservative element into the ensemble. I thought the two would create a unique juxtaposition perfect for a moody fall date.
I always have an affinity towards stripes because it is the ultimate wardrobe staple (1). It is an easy choice when you have nothing to wear but turns into a harder decision when you are cleaning out your closet. Simply refusing to go out of style, they continue to earn a place(2) deep in our hearts. Since the photo shoot took place on the pier, I thought it would be fitting to bring out my inner sailor- Ah hoy!
For me, I love attending birthday parties because it gives you a good excuse to dress up and put on your best party shoes. However, I often find that it is important to not "overdress" for such an occasion as you there to celebrate and not be the centre of attention. With that said, it doesn't mean that you shouldn't still look cute and polish while wishing your best friend a happy birthday.
