The Romantic Rebel is confident, courageous, fascinating, glamourous and seductive. She is unafraid of change and trying new things but remains faithful to her dreams. She is rebellious yet stays true to her roots. I think "she" was whom I've always wanted to be-a fearless fashionista. Through my blog, I am able to experiment and try out looks that would maybe sometime seems ridiculous or out of the ordinary. But hey, we live only once so why not? is my answer!
Since fall is just around the corner, I thought this sweater would be a perfect pairing for my 70's revival attire. As the temperature cools, this sweater will definitely help bring you back into fashion's groovy past (1) with its blend of orange, red and brown. The colours give off the nostalgia of falling leaves crunching beneath our feet and the Autumn air sweeping through our hair. This sweater however does not only aim to bring back past memories, but also to fully convert and embrace us into the seasons changing spirit.
For me, I love visiting flower gardens because they seem almost otherworldly and enchanting. Once you step in, it instantly transforms you and makes you forget the hustle and bustle of city life. Inspired by the vibrant colors of the flowers, I decided to wear this beautiful yellow tunic I got from H&M recently. With its rich opulent hue and great silhouette, this would be a perfect piece to transition into the Fall.
In the September 2015 issue of Glamour magazine, I came upon an interesting article named "Peace Out Pussy Bow!" (1). As I read the article, I realized that I have long been wearing this retro trend without having a clue of its actual name. I usually refer to it as the 'blouse with the bow" or "blouse with a tie" without knowing that there was deeper meaning behind it. As I soon discovered that this was "the feminine take on a man's necktie" (2) I was amused and pleased at the same time. Sure, the name is rather atrocious and sexist but sometimes we need to let the boys know that we are able to laugh at ourselves. There has been some debate on changing the name, I say keep it. It is a word filled with history of strong female pioneers (3) and I think by changing it, it shows the world that we are ashamed of our femininity. I think I'm going to love wearing the "pussy-bow" more knowing that it is a secret just for the girls.
Fall is such a fashionable season because it is the time to infuse your best outerwear and layers together. This brings me to the forever classic trench coat which for many is an essential piece in their wardrobe. Originally developed as an item of clothing for army officers to use in the trenches of the First World War (1), it now stands as a one of those pieces that have outlasted warfare and became the ultimate fashion statement. It does not come and go like most trends, it is a piece that is both timeless and practical.
