Finally now able to look back, October was sure a hectic but fulfilling month for me! I got the chance to attend many amazing events and also bring my husband along which made it so much more memorable! One such experience was a short romantic getaway to Rowena’s Inn on the River, an English style manor bed and breakfast located in beautiful Harrison Mills. Now a lot of you that live in Vancouver probably have heard of Harrison Hot Springs but Harrison Mills is quite a different story. A land filled with “pristine wilderness, cascading mountain peaks, tranquil rivers and undiscovered treasures” Harrison Mills is home to the world’s largest winter gathering of bald eagles in November. We were there too early to view this sight but I can imagine how spectacular it will be witness such an account. If you get a chance and just a short drive from Vancouver, I highly recommend you jump on the chance to experience such a display from nature.
Situated right by the Sandpiper Gold Course and the Harrison River, Rowena’s Inn guests not only get the chance to indulge and relax but also enjoy a little golf in the meantime. What was also unique about this bed and breakfast is that it consisted of a Victorian Style inn that transforms you back in time and also home to charming cottages for those that want to experience an outdoorsy feel. We had the privilege of staying at one of the cottages and it was wonderful. I especially want to note the great fireplace and awesome Jacuzzi tub (best I ever experience in a hotel room) and recommend you take a nice bubble bath after a long day. I love how the room greeted us with wine and fresh cheese from the locals and a stunning private porch all to ourselves with a view of the estate, mountains and rivers. If you get hungry, the Clubhouse is great for both dinner and breakfast with food that highly surprised me! Everything was extremely delicious and I think it rivals a lot of good restaurants and hotels in the city. I highly suggest you have the waffles and hash browns during breakfast (promise you won’t regret it and comes free with a night stay!)
Overall we spent most of the time exploring the hotel and ventured out the next day to see Harrison Mills and even drive to the hot springs. If you only have a day or two there is a great itinerary that you can view HERE and activities that include the cheese farm (so fresh the cheese), Farm Circle tours and the Kilby Historic Site and of course the Eagles during Fall. If you are looking for a great place to visit for Christmas, Rowena’s Inn and Harrison Mills is not only great for couples but also suitable for families and has many great activities during the holidays such as their famous high tea and Christmas display. I couldn't ask for a more magical weekend with my husband and want to Thank Tourism Harrison Mills and Rowena's Inn on the River for the visit!
