My fashion horoscope said that I would be trying something very new and unusual for November and boy were they right for once! I am very spontaneous at times and someone that isn't afraid to venture out of my comfort zone to try a new trend. Today I wanted to experiment with something that I've been seeing all over Instagram - the blue lips and discovered that I kind of enjoyed the look. Partnering up with Coach again, I thought something a little darker or bluer for that matter, would show how versatile this Rogue bag truly is.
While the other two look that I've created for Coach before were more elegant and pays homage to the history and heritage of the brand, this look certainly stems far away from that and speaks to the youthful spirit of the Coach girl now. Embracing this new “Americana”, creative director Stuart Vevers draws inspiration from Debbie Harris of Blondie (1) and this was certainly reflected on the runway shows. What I love especially about the re-branding of Coach is that it allows us to experience fashion in a refreshing light regardless of age. So whether you are a college student dreaming about the world or someone that has experienced worldly things, this new Coach has a little something for everyone.
As mentioned, this Rogue bag is really is a dream to style because it literally looks amazing with anything. One might think that since the bag is in a classic tote style that it would be limited to the office or for a more sophisticated setting. However, with the additions of removable straps in contrasting white and purple, it gives the bag a youthful and functional edge that allows for this denim on denim ensemble to work. Also, a white bag is universally flattering and makes for an ideal neutral canvas to add as much detail and color as your heart contents. When I first saw this jacket I knew I needed it in my life but since it was so busy (with the patchwork and zipper details), I had to keep the rest of the look fairly simple with black thigh high boots and a plain denim skirt. Of course, the main focal point of this entire look is the blue lips, a trend I have been dying to try. At first, I was a little skeptical but after mixing two shades of blue together I found the perfect medium for my skin tone and was really happy with the results. I think this look really embodies what Coach envisioned their IT girl to be - someone that is vivacious, fun, cool and a little rebellious to keep us guessing and wanting for more.
